Toni Rene explores issues of female identity in visually compelling hybrid works of art that playfully bridge painting with three-dimensional relief work, as well as more traditional delicate watercolor paintings. Her ongoing series “Let Me Be Feminine, DAMN!” has been described as “Boticelli’s Platonic concept of ‘divine love’ comes to new life through nymph-like goddesses that emanate from floral arrangements, or Buddhist-inspired mandala forms.” Her current abstract work is a deep dive into fluid art, exploring the constant battle of the brightness of her persona vs. the dark cloud that is her mental health.
